US drama The Magicians has been renewed for a third season by Syfy for 13 more episodes in 2018.
The drama based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling novels stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve and Olivia Taylor Dudley, and has been up by 6% in total US viewers.
Hollywood Reporter notes Syfy has found mixed results with its renewed focus on science-fiction programming as part of its rebranding. While critical favourite 12 Monkeys is returning for a final season, Syfy has also had a number of single seasons including Incorporated, Olympus, Hunters and Childhood’s End, two of which were filmed in Australia.

This show is fantastic, as is Dark matter and 12 Monkeys. Killjoys is okay too
Well Syfy is a science fiction channel, so I’m not sure what other alternative this gene can present, I cant imagine that SciFi will ever become less popular. Having said that I’m not sure the living dead obsession has helped good story telling much in recent years, which brings me to The Magicians, which isn’t zombie but imaginatively written and I’m pleased to see it renewed, it’s one of those esoteric shows that grows on you.
