Returning: Brooklyn Nine-Nine

SBS VICELAND is fast-tracking new episodes to screen this week.

Good news for Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans with SBS VICELAND to screen new episodes from tomorrow, just hours after they air in the US.

Season 4 returns for its second instalment at 8pm Wednesday 12 April, same day as the US.

The show ended on a cliffhanger when it wrapped up in the US on New Year’s Day, with the fate of much loved character Gina Linetti (played by stand-up legend Chelsea Peretti) unknown.

After much fan speculation, the series return will reveal all – and instead of finding out what happens via the much less exciting form of internet spoilers, Australian fans will learn on the same day as their US counterparts.

The first episode back will also see the return of Teddy (guest star Kyle Bornheimer – Casual), Amy’s boring, pilsner-brewing ex-boyfriend, for his first appearance since season two.

With the crime rate lowered, Brooklyn will be shutting down one of its precincts – permanently. The Nine-Nine is confident they will be evaluated fairly, until the official auditor turns out to be Teddy, and the whole squad must band together to save the precinct.

Resuming its fourth season, Brooklyn Nine-Nine continues to follow the exploits of the hilarious Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg – Saturday Night Live), his diverse, lovable colleagues and their more-serious-than-a-hunk-of-actual-granite boss, Captain Holt (Andre Braugher – Homicide: Life on the Streets), as they police the NYPD’s 99th precinct.

Holt’s next-in-command is Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews – The Expendables), a muscle-bound human mountain who loves nothing more than his three little daughters, except for a fresh carton of full-fat yogurt. The man loves yogurt. Jake’s fellow detectives include his girlfriend, Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero – Gossip Girl); his best friend and human puppy-dog, Detective Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio – The State); and the incredibly secretive, tough-as-nails Detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz).

From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation), Brooklyn Nine-Nine won the 2014 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Samberg).

8pm Wednesday 12 April on SBS VICELAND.
