I watched MCA last night and was duly impressed. Once again it highlighted actual cooking and not bitching and moaning like MKR does. Sure there were the same negatives that I have had with the show for 8 previous seasons but it was an enjoyable 90 minutes or so. Ten must be relieved with those impressive ratings – especially after TBL-T massively bombed. And those demo figures were great too. And the good news for MCA is that House Rules has dropped significantly and once the blind auditions are over – The Voice will also drop.

  2. Great start to MasterChef Australia. I think it’s numbers will slowly build and The Voice will slowly fall after the blind auditions finish. Seven have 2 flops on their hands at the moment with House Rules and Seven Year Switch.

  3. Congratulations, MasterChef! What a fantastic first episode. No padding, no waffling, no villians, high energy, positive television. What a refreshing and welcome change

    • There was still a bit of the less interesting parts, and warnings of some backstories which will be flogged over the coming weeks but yes, refreshingly well-paced and lovely to see people with real cooking skills (at least with their signature dish).

  4. MasterChef up on 2016 launch, with almost 1.1m

Even better, dominated the key advertising demigraphics.

Ten would be happy, considering declines for MKR & The Voice!
