Natasha Exelby parts company with ABC News

News presenter moves on, less than a month after her blooper went viral.

News presenter Natasha Exelby has parted ways with ABC News, less than a month after her blooper went viral.

There were conflicting reports over whether Exelby had been taken off-air after being caught not paying attention on air.

But News Corp cites news director Michael Reid as having told her she was being taken off air as a direct result of the missed cue.

Today it reports she cut ties with ABC News management on Wednesday amid speculation over alleged “behavioural issues.”

An ABC spokesperson said, “Natasha Exelby has chosen not to do some casual shifts she was rostered for. Natasha was not taken off-air because of a ‘blooper’ and ABC News has been clear that we’re open to working with her again, including the possibility of future presenting shifts.”

  1. The ABC incident wasn’t sacking worthy, however, laughing uncontrollably while reading a story on the death of children probably was when she was at Ten. Unfortunately, Natasha has struggled as a presenter on several programs. She is however a very capable reporter and perhaps that is what she should focus on.

  2. I still say she did it deliberately as a bit of fun. Look at the expression on her face. It was not very authentic and it was at the end of the news section introducing sport. And The ABC doubt have a sense of humour.

  3. Isn’t she a bit blooper prone? Didn’t she giggle through reading news about murders or riots or something when she was at 10?
Some might also say her short tenure on ‘Wake Up’ was one long blooper…
She’s never been a presenter I’ve found especially credible or engaging if I’m being honest.

  4. No doubt the blooper was just the iceberg on the cake. Nat is better off out of there since she doesn’t have the support of management

  5. Silly Natasha, if you wanted to keep your job, darl next time send a tweet that is ill thought out offends many and you’ll be fine….

The hypocrisy is astounding by the ABC, as a tax payer I know who’d I’d rather keep on the payroll.

If this were a call centre, it’s like someone who sent a company wide email giving management the middle finger keeping their job while the person who accidently hung up on a customer getting the sack.

  6. Have people forgotten how appalling she was on the short-lived Channel 10 Breakfast? How she ever made it to a serious news service is anyone’s guess, but it’s no surprise she wasn’t up to the task.
