Pearl Mackie on Doctor Who future: “It’s not up to me”

Doctor Who companion is asked whether she will remain after Peter Capaldi's exit.

Pearl Mackie has commented on whether she will remain with Doctor Who after Peter Capaldi’s exit, expected later this year.

“I don’t know. Well, it’s not up to me, I don’t think, but I feel like Peter is such a wonderful Doctor,” she told UK show This Morning.

There has been some speculation the show will have a full makeover when Capaldi exits with showrunner Steven Moffat.

“I think the dynamic he and I have playing The Doctor and Bill really works, [but] that’s not to say it wouldn’t work with a new Doctor. I think it’s always a new adjustment getting a new Doctor and that dynamic is different because you’re different actors and characters.”

  1. This series is deffo best since the revival. Every story has been a winner, not a single one less than good, most are excellent. Bill is the best companion since Donna too but has had better stories than Donna did, so she has had a chance to really shine. It never works when the companion fancies the Doctor or visa versa. Fingers crossed Pearl stays but it seems like Chris Chibnall has demanded a scorched earth policy when he comes in.
