Returning: Line of Duty

UK police thriller returns to ABC for its third season next month.

UK police thriller Line of Duty is back in June for its third season, taking another probing look at modern policing and corruption within the force.

The series opens with the fatal shooting of a criminal suspect by an armed response unit led by Sergeant Danny Waldron.

This screened on Pay TV in March 2016.

Daniel Mays (Common, Public Enemies) plays Sergeant Danny Waldron, the highly proficient leader of an Armed Response Unit whose unpredictable behaviour is becoming a threat to colleagues and suspects. When AC-12 are called in to investigate Danny’s conduct, even they could find themselves in the firing line.

Mays joins returning cast Martin Compston (Sweet Sixteen) as DS Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure (This is England) as DC Kate Fleming and Adrian Dunbar (Ashes to Ashes) as Superintendent Ted Hastings.

9:20pm Friday June 16 on ABC.

  1. Yes, S3 is fantastic – the quality has been maintained. Gripping stuff and top-class performances all round. You don’t have to have seen the preceding seasons to enjoy, though if you have some of the storyline arcs flow through from earlier episodes.
Line of Duty S4 has recently concluded its run on BBC in the UK and it’s another cracker. Presumably S4 will come to streaming services and eventually ABC.
I’ve read that S5 and S6 have been green-lit though it looks like a decent gap (12-24 months) before we’ll see the next run of Line of Duty.
