Seven News hires new Rugby League voice

Brett Kimmorley is joining Seven News, in addition to his FOX Sports duties.

Former NRL player and FOX sports presenter Brett Kimmorley is joining Seven News as a Rugby League commentator.

He will appear twice weekly, in addition to his FOX duties, for the first time tonight.

Seven indicates his deal will take into consideration his family commitments following the sad death of wife Sharnie from a brain tumour in March.

Seven’s Sydney News Director Jason Morrison said: “Brett lives and breathes NRL; his passion for footy is second to none. Brett’s had a stellar career with 307 games and he’s a valuable addition to the Seven News Sydney team.

“On a personal note, we were all saddened by the passing of Brett’s wife Sharnie. We will work with Brett’s responsibilities on the home front in his availability to us.”

Seven’s Sydney Sports Editor Jim Wilson added, “Brett is one of the most respected people in rugby league and so to have him join the Seven News team is a huge coup for us.”

  1. He’s been on Weekend Sunrise for a while now also. I’m guessing he’ll play a strong role in Seven’s RLWC coverage at the end of the year as well.
