“There may never be another Fargo”

Network bosses let us down gently on the outlook for Fargo.

Season 3 of Fargo is currently screening in Australia on SBS, and I’m enjoying where Noah Hawley is taking me with Carrie Coon and Ewan McGregor (even if sometimes it baffles me).

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf was recently asked about the outlook for more of the anthology series in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

“There may never be another Fargo. Unless Noah has an idea for Fargo that he thinks he can make as good as the prior three. I think once people get to the end of this [season] they will find that it is thematically different. It’s really about the moment we live in now.”

Not what we wanna hear…..!

Landgraf was also asked about whether we will ever see more Louie with Louis C.K.?

“I don’t know. Look, Louis is a major filmmaker as well as a major TV producer. There could be Broadway plays, too, and he’s still making money hand over fist as a comedian. What I would say is, I don’t think it’ll happen unless Louis has gone through a transformation in his life related to his kids getting older and changing his perspective and growing up. He has a different point of view about how he views life or who and what he is as a protagonist. I could see him coming back and making more episodes, but Louis wouldn’t be the same Louis by that time.”

  1. Well I’m loving the third season! Only criticism would be they seem to be telling a similar story each time with different characters.

  2. I’m holding back my judgement until season 3 finishes unwrinkling coz just like the movie, it’s withholding several of it’s mysteries and charms.

  3. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s not loving the latest season of Fargo. The first season was magnificent, the second season was still really good but I’m finding this season and the characters completely boring. I’m struggling to continue watching, but because of my love for
the past two seasons, I’m finding it hard to say goodbye.

    1. Same here. First season was fantastic – loved Tolman and Thornton, second was still really good but I have struggled at times with this one. Never mind being confused, I was bored during almost the entire third episode. Might not have bothered with the fourth except for it being broadcast immediately after.

However, it picks up noticeably whenever McGregor is on screen (either of them). I’m enjoying Winstead too, so I’ll check in again tomorrow night and hope that ep 3 was just a once-off.

  4. Oh no!!
Figured Fargo would have at least a couple more seasons in it. So many more bizarre scenarios and tangents it could explore. Really don’t want it to end yet.
Seasons 1 and 2 were brilliant and so far I’m intrigued,(albeit a little confused at times), by the current season.
A slow burner but it’s quickly building and Ewan McGregor is really, really good in his dual roles.

  5. It’s a strange show-the recent ‘L.A.’ ep had nothing to do with Minnesota as such and might have slotted in better with the previous season’s references to sci fi and UFOs-from what we’ve seen so far S3 is set in 2010 so there’s no smart phones being in common use.

    1. PS-Loved the film and the 1st season was almost equal to it but the 2nd and 3rd (so far) are interesting and well made, but nowhere near as epic.

      1. We’re with you Chuck128. Am fast approaching the point where we scratch our heads once too often and delete the show from the timer. We’ll give it another episode before final decision to scamper outa North Dakota.

      2. I loved the character of Molly is S1. She gave Fargo some heart I have found a little missing in the stylish and well acted later seasons.
