NRL Footy Show presenter to proceed with Fairfax case

Erin Molan pursues legal action after her name was dragged into profile marriage dispute.

Another defamation case was in court yesterday as NRL Footy Show presenter Erin Molan took action against Fairfax Media after her name was dragged into the marriage dispute of Kelly Landry and celebrity accountant Anthony Bell.

Molan is claiming two articles gave the impression she had engaged in an “adulterous affair” with Bell, which caused the breakdown of his marriage to the former Getaway presenter.

Barrister for Fairfax Media, Peter Gray, SC, argued the article read in its entirety suggested there was no truth to the rumour.

But a judge found the articles might possibly convey five defamatory meanings.

Erin Molan will continue her defamation case before a jury.

Last month she told viewers, “I can assure you there is not one iota of truth to any of the speculation. It is not who I am and it doesn’t reflect the values I possess, and it is not how I was raised.”

Probably because her name was dragged through the mud incorrectly and she is angry about it.
