“You see and hear a lot on the road while reporting, but I wasn’t expecting this in Geelong today,” Nine News reporter Neary Ty posted on social media.
In the video she was subjected to racial abuse while reporting on a violent home invasion.
Corio resident Angus Waite, 53, asked her “What country do you come from?”
“I was born here,” Ty told him.
Police were investigating whether a neighbourhood dispute sparked the violent home invasion that’s left a man with serious injury.

That is despicable. I’m all for free speech but that sort of behaviour deserves a fine in addition to public shaming.
The guy is obviously a mental giant as he still told her to go back to her country after she answered that she was born in Australia.
Idiots like this guy vote for Pauline Hanson and support white nationalism. Racism has no place in 2017
