Studios not quite ready at ABC Southbank

Until floors are ready for cameras at Southbank, ABC will keep shooting at Ripponlea.

ABC Southbank officially re-launched last month but it is yet to have its first studio audience.

TV Tonight can reveal both Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell and Hard Quiz will return to shoot at ABC’s historic Ripponlea studios, not at Southbank. The new floor needs maintenance to iron out problems and make it level for cameras.

There have also been problems with sets unable to fit under the doors without being dismantled.

ABC is yet to confirm its exit date for Ripponlea studios, where The Weekly with Charlie Pickering is currently filming, but there are whispers it may now be pushed back to September.

Melbourne editions of Q&A continue to be filmed at Docklands until such time as Southbank is rectified.

News programmes, including News Breakfast, are unaffected by the delay and have been in production throughout.

An ABC spokesperson declined to comment.
