Supernatural spin-off in development

Potential new series will centre around Kim Rhodes as Sheriff Jody Mills.

The CW this week confirmed it is pursuing a spin-off from Supernatural, to centre around Kim Rhodes as Sheriff Jody Mills.

To be known as Wayward Sisters, this will emerge as a ‘backdoor pilot’ in an episode of Supernatural‘s 13th season.

The series would tell the story of Sheriff Jody Mills and a group of troubled young women, all of them orphaned by supernatural tragedy. Under Mills’ training and protection, these women will emerge as a supreme monster-fighting force. Other characters from Supernatural would also appear in the new series.

Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer, showrunners for Supernatural, will executive produce the backdoor pilot with Phil Sgriccia and Robert Berens. Dabb and Berens will write the script.

Supernatural previously attempted a spin-off, and during the ninth season that would have included all new characters, but did not proceed.

  1. Not sure Sherriff Jody would have been my choice for a spinoff lead character, but the trouble is being a friend/ally of the Winchesters is usually a short term career-very few left alive by now…
