Witness says Wil Anderson was not threatening or abusive

Witness says Gruen host behaved himself on a flight to Wagga.

Wagga Wagga’s Daily Advertiser has published a letter from a man claiming to have been a passenger on the Qantaslink flight in which resulted in Wil Anderson’s arrest.

Edward K French says the Gruen host did nothing wrong on the flight, although his letter expresses his own frustration with the service.

After boarding Anderson sat down and started writing on his laptop but agreed to move from an emergency exit door seating without problem.

When the seat belt sign was switched off after take-off he reportedly walked to stretch his back before resuming his seat.

“He continued to write in his pad, but was interrupted by the other hostie, which stood over his shoulder to read what he was writing.

“At no time on the flight was Mr Anderson threatening or abusive.

“Mr Anderson had stood and stretched his back again and that was when the ‘Head Honcho’ entered the pilot’s cabin (and obviously had the pilots ring ahead for the police to meet the plane).

“Once again, at no time was Mr Anderson out of line or threatening.”

Anderson, who attributed the incident to a ‘misunderstanding,’ was escorted off the plane by about six officers, but no charges were laid.

“I couldn’t believe the stupitidy (sic) of what was going on, but understand if this had been a serious matter for the police,” said Mr. French.

  1. I think the truth probably lies somewhere between the two versions. I highly doubt that a captain and an airline would contact police mid air if there was no disruption coming from a passenger! There may well have been a misunderstanding; especially with the acerbic wit and probable defensiveness of Wil if he was challenged or moved or whatever seemed to have occurred on that flight. An overly officious attendant and a possibly arked up celebrity.
