The recent US election serves as a backdrop and allegory, but no actors will be portraying President Trump nor Hillary Clinton.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Smits has a recurring role in the fourth season of How to Get Away with Murder.
Smits’ character will be a prominent figure in Annalise’s (Viola Davis) life and will have a key role in this season’s mystery. However, further details about his role are being kept under wraps.
Elsewhere, Forest Whitaker will guest-star on multiple episodes of Empire‘s next season as Uncle Eddie, a charismatic music icon and bonafide hitmaker who gave an unknown Lucious (Terrence Howard) his first radio airplay.
