Girls creator Lena Dunham is joining the upcoming seventh season of American Horror Story which has just been officially announced as American Horror Story: Cult.
The recent US election serves as a backdrop and allegory, but no actors will be portraying President Trump nor Hillary Clinton.
“The first 10 minutes of the season takes place in a very eerie, macabre way on Election Night and there’s something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on Election Night as they’re watching it all go down,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Smits has a recurring role in the fourth season of How to Get Away with Murder.
Smits’ character will be a prominent figure in Annalise’s (Viola Davis) life and will have a key role in this season’s mystery. However, further details about his role are being kept under wraps.
Elsewhere, Forest Whitaker will guest-star on multiple episodes of Empire‘s next season as Uncle Eddie, a charismatic music icon and bonafide hitmaker who gave an unknown Lucious (Terrence Howard) his first radio airplay.
