Optus has signed a partnership with National Geographic that will give its customers access to a mobile app featuring exclusive content.
AFR reports the app will provide eligible Optus customers with access to two live TV channels, exclusive videos, photos and digital editions of National Geographic magazines.
“We see content as an incredibly important part of our overall strategy,” said Optus managing director of marketing and product, Ben White.
“It’s a way to offer something different for consumers that goes beyond price and data inclusions in plans. We do see value in having a couple of key partnerships; we see this as a really important step for us.”
The app partnership with Optus is the first globally, however, National Geographic has plans to sign partnerships across the world.
In November 2015 Optus shocked the local market winning the bid for the exclusive Australian rights to the Barclays Premier League for three seasons.

Forget Documentaries and give us GOT.
Better still get rid of the 101 Soccer channels and give us Foxsport and HBO.
They couldn’t get fox on there. Aren’t they a competitor.
Now they are after Optus snatched the EPL from Foxtel.
