Seven will broadcast the inaugural AFLW State of Origin from Etihad Stadium next week just a day after its EJ Whitten Legends game.

Hamish McLachlan will host with Jason Bennett and Nigel Carmody calling the on-field action, alongside Abbey Holmes and Sam Lane.

All Australian skipper and Seven’s own Daisy Pearce will lead Victoria along with Sarah Perkins, Lauren Arnell and Collingwood skipper Steph Chiocci. The Allies also feature a cavalcade of stars including Bulldogs co-captain Katie Brennan, Chelsea Randall and Tayla Harris.

Women’s football legend Debbie Lee will coach Victoria, while inaugural AFLW premiership coach, Bec Goddard from the Adelaide Crows, will lead the Allies.

Before the bounce we hear from some of the biggest and most inspirational players in women’s football. Docker Dana Hooker talks about being a mother and transitioning back into football. Sarah Perkins reflects on her stellar year with the Crows as the star full-forward. And Erin Phillips reflects on winning the AFLW best and fairest award.

  1. Looking forward to this more than the EJ Whitten Game, will be a nice follow on from the doco Hereos on the ABC Thursday night as well. Should note that I watched the Women’s game before though, loved the concepts they had of Vic Metro vs Vic Country and proper State vs State Games. They used to air mainly on the internet, however was still great to watch and chat with friends online about it at the time in other staes and the country (I note they still do this in Queensland Darling Downs had one earlier this year).
