If The Chase were to meet Doctor Who

UK speculation that Jodie Whittaker's Time Lord is getting an older companion.

Huh? The Chase‘s Bradley Walsh as the next Doctor Who companion?

Sounds like fake news to me but according to The Daily Mirror, “Jodie Whittaker, 35, will be accompanied on her travels through space and time by former Coronation Street star and quiz-show host Bradley Walsh, 57.”

It attributes the theory to the fact that incoming producer Chris Chibnall was the lead writer on ITV’s Law & Order UK, which starred Walsh for eight seasons.

An unnamed source said: “Bradley is super excited to be joining the cast of Doctor Who in such a key role.

“It means that his schedule over the coming months will be jam-packed – so he won’t be able to continue with the full range of programmes he currently makes for ITV.

“But, crucially, it won’t affect his role as presenter of The Chase. He loves that show with a passion and so does the audience, so he’s delighted to have found a way to make it all work.”

To the concept of having an older companion, a Radio Times poll found more amongst 2,000 fans of the show 67.75% of them said they thought having an older companion was a great idea, while 32.5% of those polled weren’t so keen.

At least it isn’t Mark Labbett. Sorry not sorry.
