Deadline reports a couple of days earlier, Fuller tweeted that conversations had started about the revival, pointing out they couldn’t start those conversations until two years after the season 3 finale.
Revivals have been discussed before but Netflix passed while Amazon had streaming rights.
Fuller has previously noted August 2017 as the date “when we would have to see what the rights are for the character and for the story, and see who’s interested and how we get it done. I have the story, and the cast is excited for the story, so we’re ready to go if somebody wants to go.”
Hannibal starred Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen and was based on Thomas Harris novels. It ended in June 2015.
