AFL Media Awards 2017: winners

Seven, FOX Footy and ABC were amongst winners in the Australian Football Media Association awards.

Seven, FOX Footy and ABC were amongst winners in the Australian Football Media Association awards this week.

Brian Taylor was awarded the inaugural Lou Richards Award for his work on Seven’s AFL coverage in 2017.

Tom Browne was awarded the AFMA for the Most Outstanding Breaking News Report for his work on the story of Dustin Martin signing his new seven-year contract with the Tigers.

On The Couch took out the most outstanding program, while Anthony Hudson (most outstanding caller), Paul Roos (most outstanding special comments) and Gerard Whateley (Alf Brown trophy) were also recognised -Whately was also recognised for ABC Radio work.

FOX Footy’s General Manager Michael Neill said, “It’s been a massive year for us, with strong numbers tuning into our broadcasts, and this can only be achieved through a dedicated, talented and passionate team.

“We give fans better access to all areas of footy, along with the best commentators offering the most complete coverage on television and online.”

  2. ch7 coverage in Sydney is crap they deserve no awards they didnt show the regular season in HD the Friday nite final Geelong v swans was in SD on mate total joke

  3. How can anyone take these “awards” serious? Just a pat on the back night for the old boys club, eh?

    Also, you really cant take it seriously if Caroline Wilson is still worthy of winning awards. What on earth could she have written about this year? Was it still the Essendon “drug” “scandal”?
