Airdate: Dynasty

Nothing to get excited about, except as a curiosity factor.

Netflix will premiere the rebooted Dynasty in Australia on Thursday October 12.

The new-look series, made for The CW, features Australian actors Alan Dale, Nathalie Kelley, and James Mackay.

After its first dismal trailer, another has been assembled, but drags on too long. This show sure has fail written all over it.

Dynasty, the modern-day reboot of the iconic primetime soap produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire, follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons, and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) is charismatic, cunning, and poised to become the new COO of her father’s global energy empire, or so she thinks. When her father, Blake Carrington, (Grant Show) summons Fallon and her brother, Steven, (James Mackay) home to the family compound in Atlanta, Fallon is horrified to learn that the reunion isn’t to announce her promotion, but rather to make the acquaintance of their stepmother-to-be, Cristal (Nathalie Kelley). Cristal is stunning, and almost as young as Fallon, as Fallon is quick to point out, but she isn’t just some flimsy gold-digger to be scared off.

Dynasty, produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire, stars Grant Show (“Melrose Place”), Elizabeth Gillies (“Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll”), Nathalie Kelley (“UnReal,” “The Vampire Diaries”), James Mackay (“The Leftovers”), Alan Dale (“The O.C.”), Sam Adegoke (“Murder in the First”), Robert Christopher Riley (“Hit the Floor”), and Rafael de la Fuente (“Empire”). From CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire, with executive producers Josh Schwartz (“Gossip Girl), Stephanie Savage (“Gossip Girl”), Sallie Patrick (“Revenge”), Esther and Richard Shapiro (the creators of the original “Dynasty”) and Brad Silberling (“Jane The Virgin”).

  1. This could be yet another eccentric Netflix effort, they have more money than common sense it would seem, but I suspect that Dynasty will have some curiosity value as did the much earlier revival of Dallas, which may have succeeded if Larry Hagman had not passed away. If Netflix wants to continue to increase its audience share its choice of subject will need to match viewer interest more because if this Dynasty is a thumbs down the money to produce it could have been better spent elsewhere. Now no doubt it will get a renewal for season 2.

  2. The trailers are atrocious. They have even changed the location from Denver to Atlanta. Why did they have to call this Dynasty? The original was trashy but had a certain charm & great actors. This has none of that by the look of it.
