Foxtel marketing exec to depart

Another exec appointed by Foxtel CEO will depart Pay TV provider.

Foxtel’s Managing Director, Customer and Retail, Mark Buckman (pictured right), will exit the company after just 18 months in the role.

He was hired by CEO Peter Tonagh (pictured left) following previous roles with Accenture, Telstra and the Commonwealth Bank to oversee Foxtel’s sales and marketing functions and all customer service operations. During this time Foxtel rolled out its new-look logo and strategy.

In an email to staff Tonagh said despite Buckman’s short time a great deal had been achieved.

“Under Mark’s leadership we have made significant change in the customer-facing parts of our business,” he said.

“This includes the reset of the Foxtel brand with a new identity and new positioning (Foxtel for Everyone); the successful launch of Foxtel Now; the significant boost to our data driven marketing capability; the implementation of Marvel/Command Centre; the roll out of our Voice of the Customer program; and the acceleration of the digitisation of our customer processes.”

Buckman was the second executive hire by Peter Tonagh with the first, Deanne Weir as executive director of channel aggregation and wholesale, also announcing her departure at the end of the month.

He will leave in mid-December.

  1. If all that Foxtel can announce is pop-up channels for worn-out Bond and Bourne movies, then some new blood is needed. Amazon Australia will be up and running before Xmas and I’d expect Amazon Prime to be pushed hard via sales vouchers and discounts.

  2. Well, if we read between the lines, it looks like we know who is going to be the new CEO when the Foxtel / Fox Sports merge happens. All of Peter’s appointments being let go – by him – before the handover..
