Futurama cast reunite for podcast episode

The cast of Futurama have recorded a new adventure for Fry, Leela, Bender and co. four years after they left our screens -but only as a podcast episode.

The 42-minute double-length episode sees the crew board the Planet Express headed to deleted file planet Junkleon 7. En route, they cross paths with Klaxxon, which is described as “a nefarious life form composed entirely of soundwaves from 21st-century podcasts.” Fry & Co. attempt to save Earth from Klaxxon’s lethal, destructive soundwaves. In addition, keep an ear out for Borax Kid, Calculon, and “All My Circuits.”

In July co-creator David X. Cohen said, “There are no new TV episodes or movies in the pipeline at the moment… HOWEVER, here and now I promise a different avenue of exciting Futurama news later this summer, no kidding. Keep your expectations modest and you will be pleased, possibly. I am not allowed to say more or I will be lightly phasered.”

The free podcast will be available on September 14 (US) on The Nerdist Podcast (you can also listen on Soundcloud and Spotify).

  1. I thought Futurama wrapped up with Fry and Leela ending up together. What’s happened to Simpsons? Not everyone has Foxtel. The next season is starting in the US next month.

  2. My favorite show, so this makes my heart happy.
    I know it’s not gonna be the same, but i reckon it could lend itself well to this format and be something really great and fun… but i’m trying to keep my expectations reasonable.
