Matty J chooses Laura in Bachelor finale

Social media (again) isn't happy (again) with a Bachelor's choice.

TEN Bachelor Matty J last night chose 30 year old NSW Accessories Designer Laura last night over 29 year old WA Marketing Executive Elise, sending social media into a tailspin.

Let’s face it, such is the lure of the show it was going into meltdown no matter who he chose.

In Thailand he broke the news to a disappointed Elise, who told him she had fallen for him.

“The more I’ve gotten to know you, the more I’ve realised that we are so similar in so many ways,” he said.

“You are so worthy of being happy … And finding true love. But I’m so sorry … That it’s not with me.”

Right about there you could cue the memes referencing a heartbroken Bart Simpson.

If it helps, Matty J knows the feeling, circa 2016. Ok, it doesn’t.

“I fell in love with a man who doesn’t love me back,” a tearful Elise revealed as she was whisked away by delighted producers. Question is whether the limo drove straight to an Air Asia terminal or to a contract for 2018’s Bachelorette or not?

But TV wants its happy ending, especially in Thailand, and Laura was about to bring it.

Despite her apprehension, and her ability to remain quiet for anything longer than 3 minutes, Laura heard the words she wanted to hear.

“I think about you every single day,” Matty told her. “The only way I can describe how I feel towards you is … Laura, I love you.”

Awww.

How will the happy couple feel now they don’t have to dodge the paps? And how will the Daily Mail cope without its daily feed of headlines speculating about the same thing?

Oh wait, there is Sophie Monk waiting in the wings.

  1. ‘a tearful Elise revealed as she was whisked away by delighted producers’, how very true David!

I’m disappointed we don’t get an after the final rose show, for me that’s the best episode of them all. Would love to see Jen and co back to tell us their stories from being in the house.

  2. Given we already suspected she was the winner I was annoyed that she did end up the winner – but she did seem to be the right choice.

To avoid these sorts of spoilers in the future – they really need to make the series closer to the air time and ban the winners (as hard as that would be for them) from seeing each other at all until the show airs.

Better yet – a live or same day finale? Do all the dating etc in advance, but record the final decision part live or same day.

Its easy for winners of Masterchef, Survivor, MKR, etc to hide that they’ve won but when you’re dealing with two people “in love” it is alot harder for it to be hidden…

  3. Stuff social media! I’m glad he picked Laura, I picked her as a winner a fair way back. He just didn’t have the same chemistry with Elise. Ur was far better than Ritchie’s season and disappointing choice last year. I say bring on Sophie Monk’s Bachelorette next week!

  4. Oh the hideousness of Matty wearing loafers without socks in a bright blue suit… Methinks Ch10 trying to save money with a Thai suit, Air Asia (woo, lashing out on an Exit Row for Matty) and some fairly cheap final dates…

  5. My youngest daughter provided the spoilers right at the begining of the series….a.k.a. Georgia MkII, sorry Laura. The final 2 weeks of either Bach are pure BS with the central character basically lying to the future losers. I always prefer the early eps with the drink fuelled dodgy behaviour……..Jen for all future contracts……Elise didn’t lighten the series up for me at all…
