Heads up for viewers in Queensland, Western Australia & Northern Territory.

2015-10-03_1737

Here we are again.

Daylight Saving takes effect in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and ACT on Sunday, which will impact on Live shows for viewers in Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Sunrise, Today and ABC News Breakfast will screen AEDT with delays for others -but News Breakfast remains Live on ABC News. Some have been known to switch Live into local regions when big news breaks, especially in relation to weather or bushfires.

The Morning Show, Today Extra, Studio 10, The Project, Insiders, The Daily Edition, 7:30, A Current Affair, The Drum, The Feed will all air AEDT.

Q&A is AEDT but streams Live on iview and airs Live on ABC News: 9:05pm SA, 8:35pm QLD, 8:05pm NT and 6:35pm WA. It remains 9:35pm locally on ABC but Twitter messages maybe affected.

Lateline will be Live for those in AEDT at 9:30pm on ABC News and locally around 10:30 in most states on ABC. Oddly in Perth it around 10:30 on both ABC News and ABC.

Sports will also be affected over summer.

Fans of Reality TV will need to be mindful of social media use in order to avoid spoilers, notably for Australian Survivor, The Bachelorette, The Block.

  1. Being a NQer I can see that DLS simply makes no sense up here, if anything a reverse DLS in winter would be better. That said, there is a noticeable difference between light levels in NQ and SEQ in the late afternoon. A plane trip to Brissie brings it jarringly into focus. That said, QLD has been asked several times to consider DLS and each time the answer from the people has been a resounding NO. The pro-DLS brigade need to shut up and listen for once.

When I had Austar the offset when NSW changed to DLS often moved programs into a better, for me at least, time slot.

  2. Being a Queenslander I hate this time of year when the reality shows go hour delayed but worth putting up with it to have my lovely mornings with no daylight saving.

    1. Because even here in SE Qld we don’t get the long-ish cooler twilights that people in southern states get to enjoy during summer. It just stays stinking hot and burning until the sun sets.

While I do enjoy & appreciate that aspect of Daylight Saving when holidaying down south in summer, personally I don’t know why anyone north of about Coffs Harbour bothers with it…

(To be honest, if I had my way, Qld would have ‘Daylight Saving’ in winter – or an hour the other way in summer – so that sunset happened around the same time.)

        1. It’s easier to fiddle with the clock than it is to renegotiate a century of employment agreements and an almost unlimited number of other time related contracts etc.
