Socceroos draw big crowd as Nine takes Tuesday

Ratings: 462,000 on 9GO! becomes the second biggest multichannel audience of 2017.

The Socceroos may have faced tough opponents in Thailand last night but they did have an easier run on another front, with a whopping 462,000 viewers on 9GO! -the second highest multichannel audience so far in 2017. Another 250,000 viewed it on Pay TV.

After a win by Seven News the rest of the evening went Nine’s way.

The Block‘s 1.07m dominated over 7:30, Hell’s Kitchen Australia and Shark Tank (the latter was beaten by the Socceroos in the same slot).

From 8:30 viewing was down across the board, no doubt impacted by the World Cup Qualifier, but The Big Bang Theory led with 637,000.

The final of Hell’s Kitchen pulled 482,000 but rose to 528,000 when Debra Lawrance was declared winner. ABC again saw several shows second in their timeslot.

Nine network easily won the night with a 33.6% share then Seven 26.0%, ABC 17.0%, TEN 16.8% and SBS 6.7%.

The Block was #1 for Nine at 1.07m viewers then Nine News (983,000 / 982,000), A Current Affair (836,000), The Big Bang Theory (637,000), Hot Seat (499,000 / 278,000) and Kath & Kim (360,000 / 315,000).

Seven News (998,000 / 940,000) led for Seven then Home and Away (689,000), The Chase (586,000 / 365,000) and Hell’s Kitchen Australia (528,000 / 482,000). Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA was 244,000.

ABC News (778,000), 7:30 (576,000), The House with Annabel Crabb (551,000), Catalyst (503,000) and City in the Sky (258,000) comprised ABC’s night.

The Project (506,000 / 33,000) was best for TEN followed by TEN Eyewitness News (459,000), Shark Tank (394,000), NCIS (370,000 / 260,000) and Family Feud (322,000).

On SBS it was Great American Railroad Journeys (290,000), Insight (268,000), Dateline (162,000) and SBS World News (148,000).

  1. Shame that you don’t get a consolation point for nearly scoring a goal like you do in Aussie Rules. Prob would have boosted our goal difference sufficiently to finish second in the table and directly qualify for the World Cup.

    Perhaps we should’ve put Sam Kerr from the Matildas up front?

    1. We were saying that during the game – bring on Sam Kerr, ably supported by Lisa De Vanna. We were also wondering if Ange was wishing he had taken on the Matildas instead.

  2. I know that Thailand is currently in a period of mourning following the passing of King Bhumibol from last year. Does it mean that all soccer players including Socceroos team wear their black armbands?
