Southern Cross News revamp in Tassie

New studios, sets and equipment on the way for Southern Cross Nightly News in Tasmania.

Southern Cross Austereo is ramping up its Launceston-based News investing in excess of $1.m into state of the art equipment plus the construction of new studios and sets.

Director of News Grant Wilson, said “Viewers will be treated to a complete revamp of the product and the team of presenters, journalists and technical crew are excited about delivering a contemporary product with the best equipment available.

“Tasmanians are passionate about their local communities and Southern Cross News is committed to delivering the content our viewers want to see. Our dedicated team leave no stone unturned to make sure we deliver every day.”

SCA’s Head of Regional Media; Rick Lenarcic, said “SCA is committed to localism and the community. With additional resources, new equipment and studios, Southern Cross News will continue to deliver first class local and national content for all Tasmanians.”

Rita Rizk recently joined as the company’s first video journalist, covering local news on the North West Coast.

Presenter Jo Palmer (pictured) has been with Southern Cross News for 21 years.

  1. Well done to all involved at Southern Cross for producing what is now a very slick product for a regional newsroom. As would be expected a few teething problems with the new studio since last Wednesday but the presenters and producers have professionally worked through them all!
