Composers guild to honour Martin Armiger
Honorary composers award goes to the man behind Secret Life of Us, Sweet & Sour and Police Rescue.

Composer Martin Armiger will be the recipient of the inaugural Distinguished Services to the Australian Screen Award at the 2017 Screen Music Awards next month.
The former guitarist for The Sports has composed for ABC series Sweet and Sour, The Secret Life of Us, Come In Spinner, Bodysurfers, Police Rescue, and the documentary Cane Toads. He has composed for feature films including Thank God He Met Lizzie, Young Einstein and was also president of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers for seven years and has been Head of Screen Music at AFTRS for the past 14 years.
“I am awed and ‘umbled, shocked and delighted and very proud to be the inaugural recipient of this award. Can you be humble and proud at the same time? Well if you can be, I am. I want to say a thousand ‘thank yous’ to APRA AMCOS and the Guild for their support over a long period,” said Armiger.
The awards will be held Monday 13 November at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
