Josh & Elyse win The Block 2017, as Dave Hughes snaps up house.

Comedian Dave Hughes has bought the prized house on The Block.

Carpenter Josh Barker and model Elyse Knowles have won The Block 2017 after a record sale of $3.067m to comedian Dave Hughes.

The couple profited $447,000, taking the additional $100,000 prize for a total winnings of $547,000.

But the night was not without high drama after Ronnie and Georgia’s house was passed in at auction before subsequent negotiations netted a sale thereafter.

Jason & Sarah’s house also topped the $3m mark, but their $387,000 profit was not enough for a win.

The Block auction is never short on high drama. Other couples were some distance behind, as ‘low’ as $95,000 for Clint & Sarah, who remain upbeat about their sale.

  1. why am i thinking something fishy , so now the next one please baby jebus let there not be a next one , if there is just hook up with a celeb to buy the house

    1. For sure. R&G chose to change houses because of the monetary value of that safe.
Bet they’re kicking themselves now ! Clearly the two outside houses were the two the buyers wanted and they would have made a lot more if they had stayed put.
Still surprised their house didn’t sell for more – I thought it would be a lot closer between them and Josh and Elyse. As unlikeable as they appeared, they deserved a better result as they were the hardest workers on The Block and overall their house was very stylish. Also they had to put up with a lot of sh*t from the other contestants.
