More dating shows are on the way.
TEN has commissioned Bachelor in Paradise, a spin-off of The Bachelor franchise. It features previous contestants who have already been on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.
TEN chief content office Beverley McGarvey told the Australian Financial Review, the show was like a Bachelor All-Stars.
“You have to have enough seasons under your belt to be able to do All Stars. We have a broad pool of potential participants to pull from and we just started casting in the past few weeks, and have had a phenomenal response,” she said.
The show is tipped to replace Biggest Loser early in 2018 as a short-run series.
Meanwhile Nine is tipped to be planning an Australian version of Love Island, which has been a hit in the UK (pictured). It screened in Australia on 9Life.
ITV Studios Australia has the rights for the Australian production where 3 seasons have been filmed in Majorca, Spain. The format is not dissimilar to Paradise Hotel in which singles hook up with one another.
News Corp speculates 12 couples will be filmed at an island location, as a a non-celebrity version.
Chatter about dating shows recently has also included First Dates: Hotel, a marriage makeover show from The Block producers, plus casting notices for Second Chance at Love, Ultimate Love Match & Forever Love (may not be their actual titles).

Yes TV is cyclical. We also went from Lifestyle to Factual to Reality in broader terms.
Sick of all these reality shows. Viewers want decent family entertainment or a decent drama with a decent cast and a decent script.
Love Island in the UK is very racy and airs on ITV2, it’s certainly going to have be cleaned up for airing on Channel 9!
Yeah, it will be a “vanilla” (boring) version. Or, they could look to strip it at 8.30 after another reality show and keep the smut
SBS is tipped to show “The World’s Greatest Red-Light Districts near a Railway Station” and Seven is tipped to present “Blind Dates make you LOL” while the ABC contemplates Brian Cox’s “Hormones vs Pheromones in Human Evolution”.
This just in: “My Bedroom Rules – on Seven after the tennis”.
Will the regular Bachelor still air in the July/ August time slot?
Don’t know about timing but I believe the plan is for them to return yes.
So I guess dating shows are the new cooking show, singing show, and reno show?
