Nine’s new home ready in mid 2020

Nine will move from Willoughby to its new North Sydney home in August 2020.

Nine is expected to relocate from its Willoughby base and Australia Square office into its new North Sydney home in mid 2020.

1 Denison Street will see Nine house 16,000 square metres across eight floors of the 37 floor building with new studios, office space, meeting rooms and a garden terrace. It will include a street level news studio, visible to public.

CEO Hugh Marks told staff in an email, “It will be a major change for all of us to be under the one roof. Indeed, this is more than just an office relocation: it is an opportunity to continue down the path of transforming Nine from separate television and digital businesses into a world-leading multimedia, platform-agnostic content company that has video at the heart of everything it does.”

The property, which replaces a now-demolished North Sydney Shopping World, is being built by the Winten Property Group.

Nine’s Australia Square operations, which comprises digital and sales staff, will move to the new site in May 2020 while Willoughby management & production will move in August 2020.

Nine’s Willoughby studios, which have been its headquarters for over 60 years, were sold for $147.5 million but it retains a lease until 2021.
