Pauley Perrette leaving NCIS

"It was a decision made last year," reveals NCIS' very own forensics specialist.

Pauley Perrette has announced she is leaving NCIS, after 16 years playing forensic specialist Abby Sciuto.

On Twitter she said: “I hope everyone will love and enjoy EVERYTHING ABBY not only for the rest of this season but for everything she has given all of us for 16 years,” Perrette wrote. “All the love, all the laughter, all the inspiration…. I love her as much as you do.”

In 2010 she told TV Tonight, her role on the show had allowed her to direct attention to specific causes, including a strong political stance against the constitutional amendment that blocked same-sex marriage in California.

“Before I was in this industry I was a volunteer and worked for Non-Profits. So now with my job I’m saying the same things I’ve always been saying, but more people are listening. So that definitely came first,” she said.

“I’m also doing Save the Children. I didn’t know they had it here. My show is so supportive of all the charity work that I do. We’ve had Save the Children, Doctors without Borders, Pet Finder which is an animal rescue. My producers have allowed us to put all these things in the show, which is amazing. I love them for that.”

The 15th season of NCIS premiered last week and screens on TEN on October 17.

  1. I was shocked when Caitlin, (Suzana S. Drobnjaković Ponti), was killed off but pleased to see her move to a higher profile role in Rizzoli and Something. I stopped watching regularly when Ziva, (María José de Pablo Fernández), left and gave up completely when Tony, (Michael Manning Weatherly, Jr.), moved on. Now the Gothic Abby, (Pauley Perrette), has also called it quits. I never got into the copycats, sorry, spin-offs.
Best wishes to Pauley and her good causes.

  2. So that means Gibbs will be the only original cast member left. I wonder who they will replace her with or if this means they are considering ending it with season 15?

    1. Still No Cancellation In Sight. Rating have dropped this season but it’s still getting 13m viewers, rating 1.4 (18-49) in the US and sells around the world. As long as they can pay Mark Harmon enough to remain it will keep going. And given that in many episodes Harmon just plays a cameo role, walking into scene and delivering head slaps and glares in a parody of Gibbs, they may even try it without him.

  3. Very sad news.

Have loved NCIS since day dot and what a show it has become, both here and overseas.

It’s been a brilliant ride for Pauley, so all the best to her and I hope we’ll see her in more good things, hopefully bigger things.
