Rebel Wilson is disappointed but not surprised that Bauer Media is appealing the size of the damages she won following a defamation case against the publisher in June.
And she is planning to expose more of company practices, according to her latest tweets:
Am not surprised that Bauer has decided to appeal the damages amount in my recent defamation case considering their disgusting history.

I am disappointed that this now delays my plans to support Australian charities and Australians in the entertainment industry.

Nevertheless if this is a chance to expose more of their disgraceful practices & present more evidence on damages, I welcome it ❤️

Thank you so much to the past and present employees of this media organization who have come forward with helpful information.

BTW Bauer has hired a PR firm Thrive PR to get people to say positive things about their appeal today. All orchestrated, total rubbish x

Bauer Media yesterday said, “It’s important for us to revisit this unprecedented decision on the quantum of damages, which also has broad implications for the media industry.”
The appeal, which some legal experts suggest could see a hefty slice of the the $4.56m damages erased, does not have a court date as yet.
“This will be three judges in the Supreme Court,” showbiz reporter Peter Ford told The Morning Show.
“(Bauer Media) is saying they did defame her but what they cannot accept is that there was any direct link shown between missed work opportunities and those stories. In fact they say she gained work in the period shortly after the stories appeared.”

Knock ’em dead, Rebel. They deserve no mercy, and if this appeal means an even bigger payout for Rebel, then all the better.
Does this mean Rebel is required to fly back to Australia again?
If Bauer win, that will set a precadent that they can write whatever they want with no consequences.
*gets out the popcorn*
So is one to assume this appeal stops her getting the payout, I thought the money she won was paid to her straight away?
I believe it has been paid. If Bauer wins appeal some may need to be returned.
