Renewed: Ransom

International drama starring Luke Roberts as a hostage negotiator is getting a second season.

In news that nobody expected, Canadian-Hungarian drama Ransom is getting a second season.

The series, which screened in Australia on FOX8, starred Luke Roberts as a hostage negotiator solving kidnap and ransom cases involving the most dangerous criminals in the world.

It averaged 3.5 million US viewers for CBS who have renewed it for another 13 episodes.

The series is inspired by the professional experiences of crisis negotiator Laurent Combalbert who with his partner, Marwan Mery, are among the top negotiators in the world.

  1. CBS commissioned 13 episodes. It is co-produced with Global in Canada, RGL in Germany and TF1 in France. They film in Hungary because it’s cheap and has unspoilt European scenery. CBS and RGL announced they were pulling out and CBS didn’t renew it so it was presumed cancelled. Global and TF1 decided to go it alone and now CBS has decided if it is, they may as well air S2. It ended with a cliffhanger so good that will be resolved. I enjoyed it and there are worse shows that got renewed.
