Renewed: Star Trek: Discovery

Good news for Trekkies everywhere, but it may be a long wait for Season 2.

New US sci-fi Star Trek: Discovery has been renewed by CBS: All Access but there is speculation a second season may not surface until 2019.

Producers have previously noted every episode takes three to four months to complete, including production and VFX.

The latest Star Trek incarnation, led by Sonequa Martin-Green, features a new ship and new characters. So far it has been well-received in reviews and fan feedback.

Screening on Netflix in Australia, it is airing in two chapters with the final episode due on Monday, Nov. 13.

The remaining six episodes are coming in January 2018.

  1. I’m enjoying the show but I still find it a little bit hard to deal with what they’ve done to the Klingons cosmetically, they didn’t really need to do that. And I wish that everything was still under the “universal translator” as I’m a bit over reading subtitles!

  2. I have not rechecked the clip but I thought I heard actor James Frain (Sarek) say that they had just completed episode 15 when taking part in Netflix’s after show gossip segment, the release date for season 2 could be October or November next year if that’s the case.

  3. Once I got past the first episode it has really grown on me. Couldn’t believe the F bomb in ep 5, finally caught up with ep 6 now. Dunno why it takes so long to produce, the effects are ok, but in this era nothing special…..and where….where are the expendable crew in red shirts…Spock and Kirk are only 10 years in front of this mob and they have loads of red shirted cannon fodder!!!!
