Returning: NCIS

New episodes are back in a fortnight.

TEN has now confirmed a return date for NCIS.

As expected it moves back into Tuesdays from October 17, to follow the premiere of new panel show, Cram (which means it should also start on time).

TEN had previously promoted a return last Tuesday, surprisingly a day ahead of its US return, but a “change in the schedule” sees it return in a fortnight. NCIS: LA resumes tonight.

Two months after Gibbs and McGee were last seen fighting an elusive group of rebels in a Paraguay jungle, the pair is still missing.

Fearing the worst, the NCIS team in Washington DC begin a tireless search for their lost colleagues.

Vance and Torres are summoned to a congressional hearing regarding the fallout from the Paraguay mission.

8:30pm Tuesday October 17 on TEN.

  1. Who knows within a month or so of it starting TEN may catch-up with the US anyway given the way it airs over there. For Instance last season it ran from Sept 20th to Oct 25th had a week off and came back on Nov 15th, ran for 2 weeks took a week off again and came back Dec 06th ran for 2 weeks ending on Dec 13th and came back Jan 03rd. You can look at any season of NCIS and it works like that, it generally takes 8 or so months for 24 episodes to play out (8 weeks of breaks spread through the season).

  2. I must admit that it saddens me that people have to complain. While we’re all entitled to our opinions & have the right to voice them basically no matter what Ten does they can’t win. They bring LA back but not NCIS & people complain. Then they say they’re bringing NCIS back & people still complain? I bought the DVD so I didn’t watch the final episode so I didn’t see the ad that aired where they said last week’s date but I quick look at when it returned in the US would show that clearly Ten made a mistake as they’re not going to bring it back before it even started in the US. The people at Ten are human so they can make mistakes & while it shouldn’t have happened they can’t change that it did

As close to the US as possible is always going to be preferable but there’s only so much Ten can do. They’ve got to work with the other shows that are already playing & they’re also…

    1. What you see as complaining I see as holding ten accountable for their actions. Its a TV blog after all if people like something they will say and if they don’t they will say it too. What I do disagree with is you saying that ten can’t win. Now that’s not true through the years of this blog readers have commented on the main things that the commercial free to airs can do in relation to programming that will make it a better experience for the viewer. Time after time they choose not to hear. So if they choose not to hear readers of this blog are certainly not going to pat the on the back and say its great what you’ve done when its not. We are not robots who are going to toe the party line.

      1. Holding them accountable for what actions? Choosing to air a show?

Ten can’t win as someone will always complain, that was all I was saying. If they brought it back hours after the US like they did with LA there would be someone who complains that they’ve changed days. It doesn’t seem to matter what they do as they’re going to get ‘feedback’ saying they’ve made the wrong decision. Unfortunately what I wrote was too long so it got cut off & don’t remember what else I wrote but all I was saying was that it doesn’t matter what path Ten chooses as there is always going to be someone who complains about their actions.

You posted in the NCIS article above and I quote:

“The thing which annoys me the fact that they can air repeats & replays of shows – including NCIS repeats – but can’t air the new eps of the show.”
So you’ve written in a past article about NCIS a few months ago that you’ve been unhappy with how they are treating it but then choose to criticise me for being unhappy with how they are treating it. That’s very unfair.

          1. My original comment wasn’t directed at anyone in particular, just that it is sad that Ten says that they are bringing a show back & people still say bad things about them. When they do something wrong (like in what you quoted about me) then I can understand it. I’m also not criticising anyone, I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion & the right to express it. I just feel sorry for Ten that they actual are being pretty decent with only being three weeks behind & still getting complaints. They could have made us wait until next year so I’m pretty happy they didn’t. Then three weeks isn’t too bad. Sure I’d love it if we got better like how far LA or even SVU which is a week behind are but I’ll take what we get. What they did with last season though was disgusting

          2. I now can’t even remember what I was responding to but it wasn’t your post or anything here so maybe I was reading something else or read something differently 😛 But yeah it wasn’t directed at you, but it still makes me sad that Ten isn’t too bad with their actions & there’s hate around which I’m sure there is. But I also agree with you that there’s nothing wrong with holding a channel accountable for their negative actions or screwing around with a show. I don’t feel that being three weeks behind the US is screwing around. Especially when come Summer we’ll get a longer hiatus than the US so we’re going to end up behind on all the shows. Just so long as they don’t screw around with it again. Sorry if you felt it was directed at you as it wasn’t, it was just expressing an opinion/feeling

I kind if think you missed the point though. Ten have made multiple mistakes with NCIS this year so the frustration has been building for a while and each error ten makes is not being seen in isolation but cumulative by a chunk of the audience. Whilst I think you mean well and you may not have intended it to come across this way but part of your post reads like you want to tell people what they can and can’t complain about.

  3. After what the just did I don’t believe it and I won’t believe it until it airs. We will be three episodes behind if this happens. So they can air NCIS LA with a 2 day gap from the US but they cant do better with NCIS?

    1. They intended to fast track it, but made a mistake because the earliest they can air NCIS on Tues is one week after it airs in the US. And airing one ep, then bumping it for the post-Survivor wrap up the following week would be worse. We will get a couple of episodes less before a 3 month break for the non-rating season. Last year NCIS didn’t even start till after Easter, so you’ll get eps earlier this year. In the US there are 3 months of production breaks and preemptions through out the season. We will get larger continous blocks of eps than they will.

      1. How do you know ten made a mistake? They never said why they took it back. Its not a good idea to assume.
NCIS actually began in February this year not after Easter. If your going to write and contradict someone at least get your facts correct.

Personal preference is close to US air date rather than continuous blocks. Whilst beginning season 15 this year instead of next is obviously better the way ten have mishandled the airing of last season particularly the final 5 episodes and running a promo with a sept 26 air date for the new season then taking it back means they don’t get the brownie points they may have otherwise gotten.

          1. US drama doesn’t rate these days because the commercial networks have spent years damaging it that it is unlikely to recover now.
