Yes I’m a Crows supporter but I thought the 7 commentators were very one-sided. When Adelaide scored in the first quarter there was virtual silence and then when RIchmond scored BT said ‘yes yes yes yes yes’ (I’m not exaggerating).
I was also surprised that the A.F.L Grand Final didn’t rate more highly. It was down about 400,000 nationally on last year, and a surprising 200,000 less in Melbourne.Perhaps Richmond didn’t have all of Melbourne behind them as the Bulldogs did last year,or maybe because it was a one sided game and people switched off early? It’s interesting to speculate.
Don’t be surprised with the ratings. Last year with the Western Bulldogs making and winning the Grand Final was the fairy-tale of the century and would of drew many more viewers. This years figures would of just went back to normal.
Or maybe it could be because all the pubs etc. were jam packed with people watching the footy via big screens.
I noticed that the ‘Raiders’ scene near the end was censored/edited for the face melting/shrivelling bits-strange thing to bother with given its age of 35 years or so and ‘M’ rating.
It was actually classified PG, as it was cut for a 7pm start.
And, go TEN! Actually beat SBS by 0.4%. Well done! But 9.3% behind ABC, who also had no sport.
Great day for 7 Network and the quality HD vision made it a joy to watch as all team sports really should be in HD.
Our team lost after playing well all year but still a well done to them as well. The Richmond Tigers deserved to win as they played better yesterday. Come on our beloved Adelaide Crows next year. They gave us a lot of joy in 2017, so still happy but a win would have topped it off nicely.
Unfortunately, regional Prime viewers had to watch it in “Fuzzy Definition”. I agree, all sport coverage should be shown in HD as it is filmed that way.
Enormous audience for the Grand Final.
Down on last year, which I think was always going to be tough to match/top.
Biggest post-AFL Grand Final prime-time audience I can remember! Seven still ended up with over 40%.
Around 800k for Indiana Jones movie, easily the biggest movie in a long time.
I would expect NRL to rate very well, having a Melbourne team in plus the publicity over Macklemore, although hard to compare prime time vs non prime time.
I was quite surprised the afl didn’t rate better tbh. The tigers are a massive club. No sydney side would have made a difference but i didnt think it would be so significant. I agree that the storm playing and the macklemore controversy will help the nrl tonight. Ridiculous amount of attention given to him singing that song but i am sure the nrl didn’t mind.
I think thats a 13% drop in metro viewers for the afl gf this year.
The AFL Grand Final rated high, as expected.
The pre-game shows (of Game Day and The Kick did well too, for the morning slots.
Raiders of the Lost Ark rated high, thanks to the extended coverage of the AFL.
ABC held well.
