Actor Sean Penn is reportedly unhappy with the 3 part Netflix doco, The Day I Met El Chapo.
The biographical account of Mexican actress, Kate del Castillo (Ingobernable), it details a meeting with one of the world’s most notorious drug lords and Penn.
“Mr. Penn just saw it and hopes to have the opportunity to participate; there are profound inaccuracies and presumptions presented in Kate’s story,” Penn’s spokeswoman said in a statement.
Variety notes there is conflicting information about whether producers contacted Penn to participate in the series. David Broome, the creator and co-executive producer, said in an earlier interview that he reached out multiple times to Penn but got no response.
The doco is due to be released Friday October 20 on Netflix but it’s unclear if it will be delayed as a result of Penn’s concerns.
