Seven still caught in reno, dating crossfire.

Ratings: Seven still fourth at 7:30. Another win for Nine. New ABC ME show starts modestly.

While Seven goes into early evenings in the driver’s seat, thanks to The Chase and Seven News, it is still losing ground in early evenings, notably in the crossfire of The Block vs The Bachelorette.

Nine’s reno show drew 1.21m, down on last week, and TEN’s dating series was up at 840,000. That left observational shows The Force and Border Security in fourth place behind ABC, with 502,000 / 496,000 respectively (although both were up on last week). Next week The Grand Tour moves in.

Gruen hit the front from 8:30pm with 838,000, up on last week’s 806,000, with Doctor Doctor, Criminal Minds and The Wrong Girl to follow.

Last episode of Look Me in the Eye was low for SBS at 128,000.

Nine network won Wednesday with 30.6% then Seven 26.4%, TEN 19.6%, ABC 16.9% and SBS 6.5%.

The Block was #1 for Nine wth 1.21m then Nine News (950,000 / 941,000), A Current Affair (817,000), Doctor Doctor (745,000) and Hot Seat (464,000 / 269,000). Embarrassing Bodies was 231,000.

Seven News (971,000 / 957,000) was best for Seven then Home and Away (664,000), The Chase (590,000 / 369,000), The Force (502,000) Border Security (496,000)  Criminal Minds (414,000 / 387,000).

The Bachelorette (840,000) led for TEN followed by The Project (553,000 / 340,000), TEN Eyewitness News (458,000), The Wrong Girl (387,000) and Family Feud (322,000). Hawaii Five-0 was 167,000.

Gruen (838,000), ABC News (721,000), Hard Quiz (606,000), 7:30 (528,000), Get Krack!n (348,000), Grand Designs (194,000), Adam Hills: The Last Leg (166,000) and The Edge of the Bush (143,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was Railways that Built Britain (243,000), Riviera (140,000), SBS World News (132,000) and Look Me In the Eye (128,000).

Shaun the Sheep shut-up multichannel competition with 214,000. New ABC ME show Mustangs FC drew 38,000.

  1. With The numbers for the The Wrong Girl Last night I think it is gone …..it will not be back …I enjoyed the first season but this one is all over the place …

  2. My strong hunch (and no more scientific than that) is that while ‘The Grand Tour’ is a really smart, eye-catching ‘get’ for Seven, I don’t reckon it’ll fire to the extent needed in the really tough 7.30 mid-week slot. To my mind it’s a post-8.30pm (or even slightly later) show and expect it would do a better job in that kind of mid-evening position. Time well tell of course.
You’d have to say that the second half of the 2017 ratings year has really belonged to Nine so far and Seven has been the big let-down of the bunch. The Seven team must already starting o be looking ahead to 2018 and the chance to reset with some big returning bankers (i.e. MKR) as well as fresh offerings…

      1. I get the impression Seven are holding off launching Instant Hotel until The Block and Bachelorette run down, so cheaper filler (Grand Tour, Bor Sec, Highway Patrol, etc) continues.
