7:30, ACA strong on competitive Monday.

Ratings: News interviews grab our attention on a night that proved to be competitive. HYBPA? wraps the year with a win.

News surrounding TV personality Don Burke dominated on Monday with both 7:30 and A Current Affair winning their slots. In the end 4 networks were within a 6% share range of each other.

7:30 pulled 863,000 viewers followed by Back Roads also on ABC, Family Food Fight, Instant Hotel, All Star Family Feud and Michael Mosley on SBS.

It followed A Current Affair winning its slot at 816,000 over ABC News, Home and Away and The Project.

But by 8:30pm viewers were ready for a laugh. Have You Been Paying Attention? wrapped its year with 772,000 viewers leading Foreign Correspondent, more FFF and Criminal Minds. HYBPA? topped all 3 demos while running overtime boosted US comedy Man with a Plan (it will be adjusted to 321,000).

Seven News and The Chase won their slots.

Nine led in primary channel share by 0.1% but Seven network won Monday with 26.0% then Nine 25.0%, ABC 21.8%, TEN 20.1% and SBS 7.1%.

Seven News was #1 with 956,000 / 937,000 for Seven then Home and Away (696,000), Instant Hotel (578,000), The Chase (574,000 / 360,000) and Criminal Minds (407,000 / 327,000).

Nine News (886,000 / 860,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (816,000), Family Food Fight (594,000), and The Ashes (481,000 / 445,000), Hot Seat (407,000 / 241,000 in 5 cities). Movie: Burnt was 219,000 in 5 cities.

7:30 (863,000), ABC News (764,000), Back Roads (743,000), Foreign Correspondent (644,000), Media Watch (570,000) and Q&A (435,000).

Have You Been Paying Attention? (772,000) was best for TEN then The Project (511,000 / 379,000), Man with a Plan (503,000), TEN Eyewitness News (471,000), All Star Family Feud (440,000) and Family Feud (337,000).

On SBS it was Michael Mosley: Nine Months That Made You (221,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (194,000), River Cottage Australia (178,000) and SBS World News (175,000).

ABC2’s Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom lorded over multichannels with 250,000.

  1. HYBPA does well as usual, i don’t understand why they need to finish it so early, 10 doesn’t have anything else to show on Monday nights so why not keep it around until the big bash starts in mid December.

    Hopefully next year they can start it in February rather than wait around until Masterchef starts.

      1. Love HYBPA, and what a story it is, given its humble TV beginning early on Sunday nights for 30 minutes. Although, even though ratings are ending, it’s odd doing a year in review special with a month to go still. I think they should end the season with a normal show & then do the year in review as a one-off at the end of December (Ten has repeated the review special around this time anyway).

  4. Clearly moving Coldfeet to 7TWO was a poor decision. Should have taken over the timeslot Liar was in. Not even in the top 20. Last year I recall 400K?

    1. Yes, agree that Cold Feet should be screened in the Liar timeslot on the main channel, instead of being buried away on 7TWO.
      Looking a little dated now but was one of the first shows of this genre when it first started.
      Am still enjoying it for nostalgic reasons …good to see all the old characters back again.

      1. Unfortunately missed the initial series (missed it due to being younger and out more – ha!) but tuned in to the series last year and worked out many of the gaps. Must make an effort to track down the original series…

  5. Forgot about Criminal Minds being on last night. Hopefully one of us recorded it as can’t stand using +7 for catch up – usually has as many ads as when the show is live to air, takes just as long, if not longer to watch then it would just to watch live and the ads are usually double the volume of the show to the point where I just have to mute and wait.

  7. Don’t watch it so don’t know, and no idea if 7 is ‘fast-tracking’ S13.
    Try going to imdb.com/title/tt0452046/episodes?season=13&ref_=tt_eps_sn_13 – and see if the storylines gel.
