ABC steady, Seven wins quiet Sunday.

Ratings: Doc Martin tops Sunday with 1.04m viewers while ABC turns on a magical Paul Kelly concert.

As the TV year begins winding down and summer weather looms, more and more viewers are showing a lack of interest in Free to Air offerings.

But older viewers are remaining loyal to ABC shows.

The Doc Martin finale was the night’s top show at 1.04m viewers (a hit by anybody’s standard), well in front of The Wall and Family Food Fight, both of which had the advantage of a 40 minute head start. Reality shows still trumped drama in the demos. TEN’s Bull and an SBS doco trailed behind.

60 Minutes was in front by 8:30pm at 736,000 viewers over Sunday Night, Paul Kelly Live and Wisdom of the Crowd. Nine’s show also topped 2 of the demos.

Seven News won ahead of Nine’s, with both primary channels ending the night with just a 0.1% split.

But thanks to 7mate, Seven network won Sunday with 32.4% then Nine 26.9%, ABC 21.4%, TEN 13.1% and SBS 6.1%.

Seven News led for Seven with 932,000 viewers then Sunday Night (693,000), The Wall (634,000) and First Flight: Secrets of the Dreamliner (400,000).

Nine News (889,000) was best for Nine then 60 Minutes (736,000), Family Food Fight (552,000) and Australian Crime Stories (313,000).

Doc Martin was #1 at 1.04m for ABC then ABC News (907,000) and a magical Paul Kelly Live concert (438,000). Classic Countdown drew 202,000.

The Sunday Project (339,000 / 211,000) was best for TEN followed by Bull (300,000), Wisdom of the Crowd (286,000), TEN Eyewitness News (285,000), NCIS: New Orleans (217,000) and Family Feud (211,000).

On SBS it was Secrets of the Chinese Chariot (194,000), SBS World News (157,000), The Nineties (153,000).

7mate’s Thor movie topped multichannels at 275,000.

  1. I like Nine News…have been watching it for awhile now…and they send a live reminder of what’s on to my Facy page…I stayed on FFF, 2nd screen….and then watched Paul Kelly Live….and it was everything I thought and more….huge crowd….and the a Capella at the end was the icing on a spectacular cake….I bet the encores would have been awesome also……It is on iview… 🙂 ….
Chat last night with US friends…..The Wall came up…all said they did not last but 10 mins. or so… 🙁

  2. Last night, I watched the 1st Flight: Secrets of the Dreamliner. This special was fantastic to watch as this show provides better cutting-edge technology for the Qantas B787s.

  3. That 7mate share is ridiculous, considering it was also the 2nd of the channels 3 films last night (not starting until nearly 9pm)! RLWC late afternoon provided a massive promotion/lead-in too.
