Stan has confirmed it has the Australian right for Rise, the new musical drama from Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood) and Jeffrey Seller (Hamilton).
The series due next March features Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez and Moanna star Auli’i Cravalho.
The 10 part series is based on 2013 novel Drama High by Michael Sokolove and will air on Stan on March 14, same day as the US.
In Rise, dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli (Josh Radnor, “How I Met Your Mother”) sheds his own self-doubt and takes over the school’s lacklustre theatre department. Determined to help his students find a sense of identity and purpose he chooses “Spring Awakening” as the year’s big production, sparking controversy and in the process, galvanizes not only the faculty and students, but the entire working-class town. Inspired by a true story.
