Amber Harrison tweets trigger legal warning

Harrison warned her tweets criticising Seven network are a breach of court order.

Amber Harrison is refusing to delete tweets in which she criticises the Seven Network, and has been issued with a warning about further legal action as a result.

Harrison, who infamously had an affair with CEO Tim Worner, has been more outspoken since the Harvey Weinstein fallout. The tweets in question relate to the Seven boardroom and incidents around X Factor‘s first season.

Following recent courtcases Harrison was placed under a suppression order, including making any adverse statement about, publicly disparaging or otherwise bringing the network into disrepute.

A legal letter from Johson Winter & Slattery instructs her to remove the tweets by 6pm today or “our clients reserve their rights to commence contempt proceedings against you without further notice.”

But Harrison told News Corp, “Channel Seven are kidding themselves if they think a court order is going to suppress the truth and protect corporate cover ups past, current or future in the present climate. It doesn’t work. It is a failed tactic. I will continue to speak out and I’m not removing tweets.”

In his July judgment, Justice Sackar ordered Harrison to pay Seven’s costs on an indemnity basis, which is higher than the costs typically awarded in legal disputes and would cover its entire bill, likely to be in the order of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
