Should we attribute this to Cup Eve celebrations in Melbourne last night?
ABC shows have again beaten those offered by Seven, Nine & TEN with 7:30, Australian Story & Four Corners all winning their slots. ABC beat Nine into second place across the network, after pipping them in primary share on Sunday too.
In all likelihood it is being driven by viewer dissatisfaction with commercial offerings, with a Cup Eve factor to boot.
Australian Story and 7:30 both pipped The Wall, Family Food Fight and All Star Family Feud. Nine’s reality show has slipped under 500,000 whilst TEN was under 400,000.
Four Corners also won at 8:30, although Have You Been Paying Attention still topped the demos. Liar and Menendez Murders followed.
Seven News, ACA and The Chase held their slots.
Seven network won Monday with 30.6% then ABC 22.5%, Nine 21.7%,TEN 18.1% and SBS 7.0%.
Seven News (972,000 / 965,000) was #1 for Seven then Home and Away (709,000), The Wall (687,000), The Chase (563,000 / 383,000), Liar (453,000) and The Good Doctor repeats (283,000 / 255,000).
Australian Story (874,000) won its slot for ABC along with Four Corners (770,000). Both ABC News and 7:30 were high on 724,000 then Media Watch (618,000) and Q&A (414,000).
Nine News (888,000 / 874,000) led for Nine followed by A Current Affair (746,000), Family Food Fight (493,000), Hot Seat (450,000 / 254,000), Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders (314,000). Chicago Justice was just 151,000.
Have You Been Paying Attention? (633,000) led for TEN followed by The Project (482,000 / 316,000), TEN Eyewitness News (423,000), All Star Family Feud (398,000) and Family Feud (295,000). Man with a Plan drew 252,000.
On SBS it was The World’s Most Extraordinary People (188,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (174,000), River Cottage Australia (155,000) and SBS World News (131,000).
An Indiana Jones movie on 7mate topped multichannels with 227,000.

I know what the FFF stands for and it isn’t “Family Food Fight”…
I am thinking …random start times…reality shows dragged out past finish time….and shows pulled and constantly moved around….do not help commercial channels….They really need to sit down and get their act together…I am sure advertisers are also not impressed….would not be doing much for their products.
There was no South Park last night, presumably another one of those production break things.
Leigh Sales: “Suck on that Commercial Stations”
Wow big numbers for Aussie Story! Now that it’s in the 400s expect Nine to move FFF I’m guess it’ll be Big Bang to the rescue!
ABC beating the commercial channels….the summer is calling….
I think The Wall is a good concept, but it tends to get old real quick. US ratings declined as well. But I am quite enjoying having a big budget primetime game show.
I for one have food and game show fatigue.
We haven’t had too many game shows in primetime for a while?
A lot of the “food” shows aren’t really about food either. Apart from Masterchef how many food shows inspire you to cook better.
Reality show fatigue maybe? I for one am a bit over it all.
I’ve got into The Wall, mainly because I like seeing where the balls land and if they’re green or red. Ending is always tense. But I can see why ratings dropped and poor critical response, too long and it’s the same the entire program. A better host and contestants that don’t look like they’re on a sugar high would also help.
I agree with your comments about contestants that seem like they’re on a sugar high. If they calmed down and stopped screaming and jumping around I would probably have enjoyed the show a lot more. I like The Chase and never get bored of that show
