Axed: Last Tango in Halifax

In-demand writer Sally Wainwright is too busy with other projects to return to UK love story.

UK drama Last Tango in Halifax has ended with its 2016 Christmas special, seen here on ABC in August.

Star Derek Jacobi said writer Sally Wainwright has no plans to revisit the series in the future.

“No, I’m afraid it’s not,” he told Radio Times.

“We did a Christmas special last Christmas, which we thought was the beginning of another series, but no.”

Wainwright is currently working on Gentleman Jack, which will feature Suranne Jones as the pioneering businesswoman Anne Lister. She is also re-teaming with Sarah Lancashire for another series of Happy Valley at some point in the next two years.

“She’s written out, she’s writing so many things,” Jacobi said. “She’s a wonderful writer, but she’s got so much work that Tango is finished.

“It’s very sad, we all loved it,” he added.

  1. It was a good series….but yes….the price of fame…the writer is only one person….only capable of so much output……Which we should all remember about our esteem blogger, Mr David Knox… :)
