Brexit may impact future of Death in Paradise

While Guadeloupe is a French territory and makes filming relatively easy, exiting the EU will make life hard for UK mystery.

UK drama Death in Paradise is looking to the Brexit tug of war to see how it will impact on the show’s filming in Guadeloupe.

“Guadeloupe is an overseas territory of France, so it’s part of the EU, which makes it really easy to film there,” creator Robert Thorogood tells RadioTimes. “If we left the single market, it could make things much harder for us. So, like the rest of the UK, we’re just going to have to wait and see what happens after Brexit”.

A source added that, “Other islands like St Lucia are beautiful – but the complicated arrangements would make it very hard if not impossible. At the moment filming (in Guadeloupe) is the same as filming in London– but Brexit will change all that.”

Production series seven was halted during Hurricane Irma but filming on series eight remains scheduled for next year.

If the show is recommissioned, series nine would be expected to start filming in April 2019.

Moving forward, Areal O’Hanlon replaces outgoing star Kris Marshall.

  1. As the British and US Govt’s are ‘on-the-nose’ with their populace, a distraction is required. Under an “Enbiggin’ the USA” plan, Donald invades Canada and kicks out the French and the Brits. In return the Brits kick the French out of Guadeloupe like they did in 1759, 1794 and 1810.
Tea breaks are mandated on the Island and filming of “Death in Paradise” resumes.
