David Cassidy in critical condition

Former Partridge Family-star in hospital following organ failure at 67.

Showbiz superstar David Cassidy is in critical condition with organ failure at a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“He is conscious and surrounded by family and friends, nothing is imminent and we are taking it day by day,” Geffen said.

Reports suggest he is in need of a liver transplant.

Cassidy, 67, shot to global superstardom on The Partridge Family during the 1970s, alongside his real-life stepmother, Shirley Jones.

At the time, his fan club was bigger than those of Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Earlier this year revealed he was battling dementia and would discontinue performing.

“I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming,” he said at the time.

  1. Sad news. Really hope David can pull through but doesn’t sound good.
His “teeny bopper stardom” era was a bit before my time but watching Partridge Family reruns as a teenager, I can see why the girls loved him….he was so good looking in his heyday.
I know his mother and grandmother suffered from dementia as well but can’t help wondering if years of alcohol abuse contributed to his current serious health problems.
