David Koch confirms 4 day week on Sunrise

"It has been in mutual agreement," says Sunrise veteran of new work schedule.

Sunrise host David Koch has confirmed he will work a 4 day week with Sunrise in 2018, as first revealed by TV Tonight.

But he has denied rumours he is departing the Seven show.

“I can definitely say I am around for a bit longer,” Koch told News Corp.

“Two years ago when I signed my last contract I said if I want to renew in future I would want to look at scaling back. It has been in mutual agreement, Seven have been great.

“It takes a toll and you have other things you want to do.”

Media has recently speculated Koch could be replaced, including by Perth-based Basil Zempilas.

Executive producer Michael Pell added, “Kochie has been loyal to Seven for longer than the record-breaking 15 years he’s celebrating this week. “He’s never played things out publicly. I’m happy to say he isn’t going anywhere.”

Sunrise is currently marking 15 years with Koch as presenter.

    1. Would love that but think it’s unlikely as Andrew rarely fills in on Sunrise anymore due to Chase commitments which may prevent him from appearing 3 mornings a week. Also I imagine they’re looking for someone to eventually succeed Kochie and I somewhat doubt Andrew envisages himself as a future Sunrise host as he sometimes appears bored on Weekend Sunrise though I may be wrong.

    1. mixman000, Matt Doran would be an excellent choice – preferably 5 days per week, and give Koch a miss altogether. Think his “use-by-date” expired a long time ago.
