Filming underway on more of Anne with an E

Canada's girl-power take on Anne of Green Gables will be back with new episodes in 2018.

Filming is now underway on season two of Canadian series, Anne with an E.

Ten more episodes, filmed in various locations in Ontario and Prince Edward Island, will return to Netflix in 2018.

Creator and executive producer / showrunner, Moira Walley-Beckett said, “Exploring modern topical issues in the world of this beloved character is a thrilling endeavor, and I hope this season ignites, unites, and inspires young people around the world.”

“We’re super excited about the storylines for season two – conjured up by Moira and our all-female writing room and further expanding the world of Anne with an E in surprising, unique, and emotional ways,” says executive producer and President of Northwood Entertainment, Miranda de Pencier.

“We are thrilled to not only return to Green Gables for more adventures of the effervescent and beloved Anne Shirley, but also to bring the stunning landscapes of Prince Edward Island and Ontario to Netflix members around the world,” said Elizabeth Bradley, Vice President of Content, Netflix.

Inspired by the timeless Canadian young adult novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the second season of Anne with an E will continue to chart bold new territory, adding new characters and storylines while continuing to explore themes of identity, prejudice, feminism, bullying, gender parity and empowerment through the lens of its fierce, starry-eyed, irrepressible 14-year-old protagonist.

  1. This is a very watchable family show but some episodes do include adult themes which will be better understood by teenage audiences, the choice of actors especially Amybeth McNulty who plays Anne Shirley shows how much attention to detail has been put into the production. As Canada tend to make more than 2 seasons of its popular shows we should see a season 3 as well.
