Footy Classified host Garry Lyon has left Nine to join FOX Sports.
Lyon has been a permanent fixture with the network since 2005, largely as co-host of The Footy Show alongside James Brayshaw. But there were earlier appearances dating back to his final years playing AFL.
But following a much-publicised relationship with Nicky Brownless, Lyon spent 2016 away from media commitments, before returning in 2017.
Nine remained supporters of Lyon’s health rehabilitation even through some testing headlines and the anguish of its other talent, Billy Brownless.
“We’ve been great supporters of Garry for more than 20 years,” a Nine Network spokeswoman told Fairfax. “He’s a great talent and we wish him all the very best for the next chapter of his career.”
Footy Classified recently saw the return of Craig Hutchison who appears likely to host solo in 2018. Yesterday Caroline Wilson also announced she was scaling back her print commitments, but no word if it impacts her role on Nine too.
He begins at FOX Sports n 2018.
