Nine News journalist Maggie Raworth kept her cool when a stranger approached her outside Ballarat Court and began hurling abuse.

“Get a real job, the both of you. F***ing journos, lowest of the low,” he said to Raworth and her cameraman.

“What’s your problem, Sir? What have I personally done to you?” asked Raworth.

“You chose to be a journalist, there’s a million and one jobs in this world and you chose to be a lying piece of shit for a living.”

On social media Raworth was praised by many for remaining calm throughout the abuse.

She told news.com.au, “It happens all the time, every TV journalist can say that happens to them almost on a daily basis. I get yelled at from cars all the time, it’s just part of the job.”

  1. Not relevant to this particular journalist, but if I or my family was a victim of the Ch7 news ones who harass people as they leave court, I would be tempted to take action as well. Journalism gets a bad name from these.

  2. Something similar happened at Flemington on derby day to 7 reporter Blake Johnson. 2 different people in his live cross ran up to him and started swearing.
